The New Sotra Suspension Bridge project in Norway is a four-lane suspension bridge with dedicated pedestrian and cycling paths as part of the Sotrasambandet (National Road 555) connection. The bridge will connect Sotra Island to Bergen across Knarreviksundet. This massive Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project is notable as the world’s largest fully digital suspension bridge, using advanced Building Information Modeling (BIM) and digital twins for design and construction, reducing errors and timelines. The bridge main span is 608 meters and a total length of 900 meters.
The bridge deck is prefabricated steel segment and 30 meters wide. The towers are concrete and 145 meters high. The main cables are PPWS (Prefabricated Parallel Wire Strands) and anchored in the rock.
